A tiny computer which is of the same size of SD card, Intel Edison unveiled at CES 2014 by Intel

Name is Intel Edison. This year is going to be a year of wearable devices and of course the coming years. As I posted previously that Nokia is also working on the same concept of wearable devices (see Nokia is working on wearable device) and Google has already launched one device which is Google Glass which can take a picture by saying “take a picture”, record and share live what you are seeing, give you directions, send message by voice, translate you speak, can answer and many more here. So to support devices like this Intel introduce all new SD card size computer, Intel Edison at CES this year.

Intel Edison

The Edison is made up of Intel’s Quark processor which is already launched by Intel last year. It is very small that it can be fit in almost everything. Edison is not just for computer, smart phones and tablets but also for chairs, coffee mug, etc… It depends on all engineering innovators and yeah, also on entrepreneurs, because “Science may set limits to knowledge, but should not set limits to imagination” said by Bertrand Russell.

Intel Edison board features 22nm 400MHZ with Quark processor having two cores, inbuilt Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, app store connected and many more. It also supports multiple operating systems may be like Linux, open sourced etc… that can be advantage over OS compatibility.

As it is very small but with powerful and ultimate performance, it can be a game changer of the market. Intel is mainly focusing on wearable device market with Edison board, but it can be fit in other electronic market also because of its form-factor. So wait for this little package with big explosion tech. From sources Intel Edison is expected to be launched in summer this year.
