Big Upgrade From The Government Of India For Internet Surveillance With “NETRA” Soon To Deploy

The Government Of India (mainly The Indian defense ministry) is going to deploy “NETRA” (NEtwork TRaffic Analysis), an upgraded internet surveillance system very soon.

According to sources internet surveillance system that is NETRA, it will be capable of detecting words like ‘attack’, ‘bomb’, ‘blast’ or ‘kill’ from reams of tweets, status updates, emails, instant messaging transcripts, internet calls, blogs and forums. The system will have the capability of capturing any dubious voice traffic passing through software such as Skype or
Google Talk. Three security agencies, which include the IB and RAW, have  each been allotted a maximum of 300 GB for storing intercepted internet traffic, and an extra 100 GB is assigned to the remaining law enforcement agencies.

Note from the telecom department stated that, “Intelligence Bureau and Cabinet Secretariat are currently testing ‘Netra’, which will be deployed by all national security agencies.” Further to it the note said, “The specifications of the ‘Netra’ system can be taken as frozen following tests by the Intelligence Bureau and Cabinet Secretariat, and can be considered for providing multiple user access to security agencies.

NETRA (NEtwork TRaffic Analysis) is a software network developed by India's Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), a Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) laboratory, and is used by the Intelligence Bureau, India's domestic intelligence agency and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the country's external intelligence agency to intercept and analyze internet traffic using pre-defined filters.

So now to put an eye on Internet The Government Of India has also developed new department, that is already existing in countries like UK, US, China and Iran. I think this will be very helpful to stop suspicious activities happening against our country.
